The latest FM1803-2 Furlmatic Windcharger is a
powerful battery charging turbine for
use on land based applications. The 1.8m
diameter turbine is in it’s third generation
since it’s launch in 1988. The latest version introduced in May 2007, brings back a
3 bladed turbine for smoother operation. It retains the efficient 3 phase
generator with AC output which is converted
to DC at the controller located next to
the battery bank. The controller which
is supplied with the FM1803-2 Furlmatic
is available in 12V or 24V as standard.
The original FM1803 model launched in 1998 and
it’s predecessor the FM1800 have established
a proven track record of reliability in
a variety of applications from the cold,
harsh environment of Antarctica to the
hot, dusty climate of the Sahara Desert.
The second generation product upgrade saw a 40% power
increase and now new aerodynamic styling combines with our latest digital display controller. The electronic MPC1 Controller, included with the turbine, optimises the turbine power output by matching power ratios with windspeed. As with all Rutland wind turbines the FM1803-2
maintains the robustness required of
a wind generator designed to withstand
the forces of a gale!
Suitable applications include off-grid
homes, telemetry stations, telecom sites,
radio/tv transmitter stations, rural clinics
for refrigeration and lighting, meteorological
stations, security systems, navigation
aids based on land or stable platforms
only, portable power for expeditions and
military field applications, etc.
Whatever the application you’ll find using
the FM1803-2 is convenient, reliable and
cost effective. It can be used alone or
in conjunction with solar panels and/or
a diesel generating set to create your
own stand-alone power system free of costly
grid installation and on-going costs.

Starts charging at 3m/s (6-7mph) |
| ·
Generates 36W @ 5m/s (11mph), 340W@
10m/s & up to 750W peak |
| ·
The MPC1 Controller included with the FM1803-2 should be located next to the battery bank. It provides a number of functions including overcharge protection, a manual stall switch and digital display of battery volts, power output and modes of operation. An important feature of the MPC1 is it's tranformer & rectifier system that converts the wind turbine's AC power to DC. This enables the turbine to be located at a long distance if necessary for optimum turbine siting. |
| ·
AC voltage is transmitted from the
turbine to the controller allowing
optimum siting of the windcharger
whilst minimising voltage losses

Latest 3-phase alternator design
|
| ·
The latest injection moulding techniques are now used to make our blades in a precise and uniform mould so critically the blades are very finely balanced. The glass reinforced blades are light in weight and overall the 3 bladed version has less tower top weight than the previous 2 bladed model. |
| ·
Automatic furling tail system activates
at 15m/s (33mph/53kph) to mechanically
protect the turbine and reduce stresses
on the wind generator and tower.
The turbine is “furled” away from
the main wind direction to 90º
thereby slowing the turbine in excessive
winds |
| ·
Built in slipring & low wear
brushes give the unit complete 360º
free rotation on the mounting pole
|
| ·
Brushless alternator requires no
maintenance |
|
· The alternator’s windings
and magnets are encapsulated in
glass fibre |
| ·
Sealed for life bearings |
| ·
Controller available in 12v or 24v,
windcharger unit is identical for
both |

· Designed to mount on 81mm
internal diameter tube. For details
